What do I need for the first day of practice?

It happens every season, a player comes out to practice with equipment missing or, has every piece of equipment on that they do not need or is unnecessary. Below is a list of what your child will need to begin practice and help make sure that he is prepared for each practice as the season goes on.

The first two weeks...
During the first two weeks of practice this is known as the conditioning period. Players will only need:
  • Football Helmet with mouth piece attached.
  • Plain white cotton T-Shirt
  • Loose fitting athletic shorts (No baggies)
  • Football Cleats
  • Thick pair of athletic socks
  • Water Bottle (Go large here, at least 64 oz to 1 gallon. Small 16 oz water bottles will go quickly and players will run out of water)

DO NOT:
  • Bring extra equipment or player travel bag to practice. Things often get lost or often misplaced and parents become liable. Players should only bring to practice what they will wear at practice.
  • Bring cell phones, wallets, or personal items. Coaches will not hold items are not responsible for them.
  • Bring your own football to play or throw the ball around before practice. This is usually when most injuries occur.

After the first two weeks:
Once the conditioning period is completed, players should wear their full contact gear. This includes:
  • Helemet with mouth piece attached
  • Shoulder pads with practice jersey
  • Girdle with (2) hip pads and (1) tailbone pad
  • Practice pants with (2) thigh pads, (2) knee pads, and (1) belt
  • Football Cleats
  • Water Bottle (Again, go large!)

IMPORTANT!
Players should try on all of their equipment once they get home. Football helmets will fit snug and usually takes a few days for players to get used to wearing them. If your player has any equipment issues, please arrive to practice early to address these issues so your child can start practice on time with the rest of the team.
